Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using Segra and what you can expect from us. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

Last updated: October 10, 2026

The short version

  • The Segra desktop app is free, open-source software under the GPLv2. These Terms cover the online service at segra.tv.
  • You own the clips you upload. You give us permission to host and show them so the service works.
  • Upload gameplay clips and follow the content rules. Unlisted clips can be watched by anyone who has the link.
  • We can remove content or accounts that break these Terms, and we will tell you why.
  • Questions? Email support@segra.tv.

This summary is for convenience. The full Terms below are what apply.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Olof Segergren, Sweden (“Segra”, “we”, “us”), who operates Segra. You can reach us at support@segra.tv. For general questions and help, you can also join our Discord server.

The Terms apply to the segra.tv website and to the online features that the Segra desktop app connects to, such as accounts and clip uploads, together the “Service”.

By creating an account, signing in or uploading content, you agree to these Terms. If you only browse segra.tv, the Terms apply to that use too. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

2. The Segra desktop app

The Segra desktop app (the “Software”) is free and open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 (GPLv2). Your rights to run, study, change and share the Software come from the GPLv2, and nothing in these Terms limits them. As the GPLv2 says, the Software is provided without any warranty. It includes third-party components, such as OBS Studio and FFmpeg, that are covered by their own licenses.

These Terms apply whenever the Software, or a modified version of it, connects to the Service. Please don’t present a modified version as an official Segra release.

The Software records on your own computer. You are responsible for how you use it. That includes following the law when you record or share other people, for example their voices in voice chat, and following the rules of the games you play.

Some online features may require a reasonably recent version of the Software.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Give accurate information, keep your password safe and tell us at support@segra.tv straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • An account is for one person. Don’t sell, share or transfer it.
  • Your username must not impersonate anyone, mislead people about who you are, infringe someone else’s rights or be offensive. We may change a username that breaks these rules.
  • Only link Medal.tv or Plays.tv accounts that belong to you, and only add Discord webhooks for channels you are allowed to post in. Each Medal.tv or Plays.tv account can be linked to one Segra account only.

4. Your content

“Your content” means the clips, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, comments, profile pictures, banners and anything else you upload or post. You keep ownership of your content.

To run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, convert, create thumbnails and previews of, display, distribute and make available your content, only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service. This includes showing public content to anyone, in search results and in link previews (for example on Discord), and identifying the game in a clip as described in our Privacy Policy.

This license ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies may remain for a limited time in caches and backups, and we cannot recall copies that other people have already downloaded or shared.

You are responsible for your content. Only upload content you have the right to share, including any music, voices or other material in it.

Public and unlisted clips

Public clips can be seen by anyone and can appear in search engines. Unlisted clips are left out of your profile and public listings, but anyone who has the link can watch them. Don’t rely on unlisted clips for anything that must stay private.

Fair use

There is no fixed storage limit for clips, subject to fair use. Segra is for gameplay clips, and we may remove uploads that are not gameplay or that misuse the Service, for example as general file storage.

Keep your own copies of anything important. We take care of the clips we store, but we can’t promise they will never be lost.

5. Content and conduct rules

You must not use the Service to upload, post or share anything that:

  • is illegal, or encourages or helps others to break the law;
  • sexually exploits or endangers children (we report such material to the authorities);
  • is pornographic or sexually explicit, or shows real-world violence or gore meant to shock (violence within games is fine);
  • harasses, bullies or threatens anyone, or attacks people based on characteristics such as ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or nationality;
  • shares someone’s private information without permission, or records or shows people in a way the law does not allow;
  • infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
  • impersonates someone, or falsely suggests a connection with them or with Segra;
  • is spam, a scam or phishing, or contains or links to malware.

You also must not:

  • access accounts, data or systems you are not allowed to access, or probe or test our systems for vulnerabilities without permission (if you find a security issue, please report it to support@segra.tv);
  • disrupt or overload the Service, or get around rate limits or other technical restrictions;
  • scrape content in bulk, or artificially inflate views, likes or followers, for example with bots;
  • use the Service in a way that breaks the terms of the third-party services it connects to.

6. Reporting content and moderation

How to report content

If you find content on Segra that you believe is illegal or breaks these Terms, email support@segra.tv. To help us act quickly, please include:

  • the link to the content;
  • why you believe it is illegal or breaks these Terms;
  • your name and email address (not required if you are reporting child sexual abuse material);
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your report is accurate and complete.

If you are reporting a copyright infringement, also identify the work you believe is being infringed and confirm that you own it or are authorized to act for the owner.

We confirm that we received your report, review it carefully and objectively, and tell you what we decided.

How we moderate

We review content when it is reported to us or when we otherwise become aware of a possible problem. Decisions to remove or restrict content or accounts are made by a person. We use automated checks only to protect the Service from abuse, for example to filter out fake views and to block abusive network traffic.

If content or behavior breaks these Terms or the law, we may remove the content, change its visibility or details such as its title or game, restrict features, or suspend or close the account. We choose the action based on how serious the problem is and whether it has happened before. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others’ rights.

When we remove or restrict your content or account, we tell you what we did and why, unless the law prevents us or telling you would put someone at risk. If you think we got it wrong, reply to us or email support@segra.tv and we will review the decision.

Point of contact

support@segra.tv is our point of contact for users and for authorities, including under the EU Digital Services Act. You can write to us in English or Swedish.

7. Third-party services

The Service works with services run by others, including Discord, GitHub, Medal.tv, RecoverPlays and IGDB. When you use them, their own terms and privacy policies apply. We don’t control these services and are not responsible for them. An integration may stop working if a third party changes or ends its service, and we may remove an integration at any time.

Clips from Medal.tv or RecoverPlays that appear on your profile remain hosted by those services. We show them because you linked the account.

8. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep Segra running well, but we can’t promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. You can check the current status at status.segra.tv.

We may change, add or remove features. If we shut down the Service, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice where possible, so you can download your clips first.

9. Ending your use of Segra

You can stop using Segra at any time. You can delete individual clips yourself and download all your clips from Settings. To delete your account, email support@segra.tv from the email address on your account.

We may suspend or close your account, or stop providing all or part of the Service to you, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect other users or the Service. Unless the law prevents it or it would create a risk, we tell you why.

10. Liability

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these Terms do not affect.

Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, the Service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise that it will meet your needs, that content will never be lost or that it will be free of errors.

As far as the law allows, we are only liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, or for the loss of data that you could have avoided by keeping your own copies. These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law, such as for personal injury.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. If a change is significant, we tell you by email or on the website at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when the Terms last changed.

If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply to you. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account before it takes effect.

12. Governing law and complaints

These Terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country.

If you have a complaint, please contact us at support@segra.tv and we will try to solve it.
